Introduction

ARCTOS is a pan-arctic research network centered in Tromsø, Norway. We build bridges between senior and young scientists, national and international research, science and industry, science and culture, and add momentum to Arctic marine ecological research.

The network consists of three main elements:

  • ARCTOS network: Consists of a large active contact network of researchers from six Norwegian research institutions (UiT The Arctic University of Norway, Akvaplan-niva, the University Centre in Svalbard, the Institute of Marine Research in Tromsø, the Norwegian Polar Institute, and Nord University). For a detailed list of researchers being part of the network, please go to the members section.
  • ARCTOS student support network: A network of PhD students within the ARCTOS network that provides additional supervision and feedback and up to date courses. There are courses open to all PhD students at UiT but also an exclusive course open only to members of the ARCTOS network. For detailed information, please go to the student support network section. Since 2016, Master students can become student members as well. For a detailed list of PhD and Master students, please go to the members section.
  • Outreach: Communicating Arctic marine science to a broad audience and to built bridges between science and culture as well as art is of major importance for ARCTOS. Please see the outreach section for an overview of activities.
