In the Barents Sea the highest POC flux was observed in the south (post-bloom situation) and in Adventfjorden during autumn. Ingrid&#8217;s study also shows that high vertical POC flux is not necessarily caused by large sinking particles or a high sinking particle volume, but may also occur in form of small particles with a high POC:volume ratio.<\/p>\n<p>Ingrid&#8217;s thesis consists of three articles:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Paper I<\/strong> Wiedmann I, Reigstad M, Sundfjord A, Basedow S (2014) Potential drivers of sinking particle&#8217;s size spectra and vertical flux of particulate organic carbon (POC): Turbulence, phytoplankton, and zooplankton.
