ARCTOS Days 2025

For years, ARCTOS has had a tradition of an annual event where our members meet, share science and enjoy the scenic views of Sommarøy. This year was no different, as nearly half of our members came to our event in early February with participants from almost all member institutions.

The event kicked off with an Early Career Researcher (master student, PhD candidate and post-doc) workshop day, where the focus was on science communication and funding opportunities after PhD. The two following days of ARCTOS Days started with an introduction of the fairly recent leadership change in ARCTOS, followed by a series of talks from various career-levels, group discussions of enhancing activities in the network, a launch of a mentorship program, and a poster session.

Our members, especially the ECRs, have thanked the existence of ARCTOS Network for its interdisciplinary and inter-institutional networking opportunities, and the chance for scientific collaboration. This was also highlighted by the enthusiasm of sharing their scientific work, so much so that we struggled to fit everyone into our program. As not everyone has a chance to give a full talk, sessions for “1-slide presentation” developed at the previous ARCTOS Days has been found to be a fun way of presenting all our often changing members to each other.
