Transatlantic Science Week 2015

This year’s conference took place in Boston, Massachusetts, USA and the theme was ‘Blue Futures’, relating to the enormous changes our globe and our oceans are undergoing as well as the biological resources connected to them.

Bilde TSW15ARCTOS member Paul Wassmann (UiT) was chair of session 1.2 Life and Ecosystems together with co-chair Patricia Matrai (Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences, Maine). Several ARCTOS members and associated researchers presented talks such as Jørgen Berge (UiT, Norway), Maria Fossheim (IMR, Norway), Mar Fernandez Mendes (NPI, Norway), Martin Fortier (ArcticNet, Canada) and Carin Ashjian (Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, USA). All talks were directed to the dynamics of the seasonal sea ice zone of the Arctic Ocean and underlined the necessity of a closer cooperation and coordination of international research in the Arctic Ocean.

The purpose of the Transatlantic Science Week is to promote enhanced cooperation between Canadian, American and Norwegian stakeholders in research, innovation, and higher education.
