ARCTOS well-represented at Ocean Sciences Meeting 2016 in New Orleans, Louisiana
This year’s Ocean Sciences Meeting was held 21-27 February 2016 in New Orleans, Louisiana. ARCTOS was well represented across the many High Latitude sessions, both in form of oral and poster sessions.
- UiT professor and Arctic SIZE principal investigator Paul Wassmann reported on the latest results on primary production from the SINMOD model (https://agu.confex.com/agu/os16/meetingapp.cgi/Paper/86873)
- In the same session, UiT postdoc on the Marine Night project, Malin Daase with UNIS Associate Professor Janne Søreide and others presented their year-round study on Calanus glacialis and other life cycle strategies in Billefjorden, Svalbard (https://agu.confex.com/agu/os16/meetingapp.cgi/Person/230283). Malin Daase also contributed one of the 2000 poster presented during the meeting. Also the poster dealt with Calanus lipid data collected during Cleopatra 2 and Marine night field campaigns.
- UiT postdoc on the ArcEX project, Ingrid Wiedmann presented part of her PhD thesis findings on vertical flux in the Barents Sea (https://agu.confex.com/agu/os16/meetingapp.cgi/Paper/88372).
- UiT Professor and Arctic SIZE co-investigator Bodil Bluhm co-chaired a session on the Beaufort Sea in Transition and presented results from 5 years of benthic work in that area (https://agu.confex.com/agu/os16/meetingapp.cgi/Person/195076)
ARCTOS members engaged in many active discussions in the international Arctic arena, discussed and worked on collaborations and papers with North American colleagues, and enjoyed a snow-free week with southern food and music culture.
